Dazibao, center of actual photography in Montreal inaugurated on Thursday October 12th, 2006 the show 'Between States' by Darren Ell.
Darren documents foreign individuals in Canada. In parts of his work he shows individuals which are persecuted in their home country but do not have a legal status in Canada. He also portraits individuals suspected of terrorist activities who had been imprisoned without due process. This latter body of work is characterized by the subjects shooting themselves with the camera's cable release in their hand.
